JOURNEY TO THE MOON

From the very early period of civilization man had a dream to conquer the space. The sky with its beautiful decorations was always the centre of attractions for men. Many scientists, astronomers and mathematicians had worked over it. They observed and calculated the movement of the stars, planets and their orbits.

The light of the sun and beauty of the moon always astonished them. Many attempts were made to build rockets to explore the sky. Dr Goddard made researches for thirty years to build a rocket. During the Second World War Dr Von Brawn made rockets accurately. The American and Russian scientists made rocket successfully with satellites.

They sent them to the outer space. After that Sputnik 2 was sent with a dog in it. America sent a chimpanzee to space and brought it back safely. Then experiments were made to send man into space. In 1969 Russia put Gagarin into space. America and Russia sent series of space shuttle to space at different times. They also tried to make safe landing on the moon. America sent three astronauts on the Moon in 1969. On July 20 in 1969 Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon. It made men to make new ventures to conquer the space. The vast human efforts are now being devoted to projects for putting men into space. They are also dreaming to conquer all planets.
