What is iGoogle?


iGoogle is a customizable homepage

You can generate a personalized homepage that contains a Google search box at top, and your choice of any number of gadgets below. Gadgets come in lots of diverse forms and make available access to activities and information from all across the web, without ever having to depart your iGoogle page. Here are some things you can do with the gadgets:
  • View or analyze your latest Gmail messages
  • Read headlines from the Google News and with other top news sources
  • Check out the weather forecasts, movie show times, and stock quotes.
  • Store up bookmarks for the quick access to your preferred sites from any computer

To set your iGoogle page as your homepage of browser, click on the link for the browser that you're using below for getting specific instructions. If your browser is not listed, we can suggest consulting its full help resources. Click the Tools menu.
 
When Using Google Chrome:
  1. Select Internet Options.
  2. Click the General tab.
  3. In the 'Home page' section, type http://www.google.com/ig in the text box.
  4. Click OK.
When Using Firefox:
  1. Click the Tools menu.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. In the 'Startup' section, type http://www.google.com/ig in the text box.
  5. Click OK.
When Using Safari:
  1. Click the Safari menu.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Click General.
  4. In the 'Home page' section, type http://www.google.com/ig in the text box.
  5. Close the Preferences window.
When Using Opera:
  1. Click the Tools menu.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. In the 'Startup' drop-down menu, select Start with home page.
  5. In the 'Home page' section, type http://www.google.com/ig in the text box.
  6. Click OK.
